Improving competence
Article Abstract:
Employers have a positive route to competence in the workplace with the development of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). Occupational Health and Safety Practice NVQs were introduced in 1995, and the Occupational Health and Safety Lead Body required clear criteria for the appointment of assessors and verifiers. Those involved in health and safety activities on a part time basis, can also take stand along units in certain safety functions.

Article Abstract:
The new Two-part NEBOSH Diploma programme involves continuous assessment of coursework. This allows learners to demonstrate skills and knowledge and facilitates comprehensive assessment. Incorporating coursework into a vocational training programme can create difficulties. RRC found that the key to solving some of the difficulties was greater communication and flexibility.
