The impact of gender and location on the willingness to accept overseas assignments
Article Abstract:
There is considerable variance among men and women in their willingness to accept international assignments, according to research undertaken among business students at two universities. In many cases, willingness to accept an international assignment is determined by the level of economic development of the country in question. It is clear that specific locations may be differentially attractive to male and female employees, and this could have implications for management practice.

International assignments: is there a role for gender and race in decisions?
Article Abstract:
Preparation, selection and support activities play a key role in the successful incorporation of race and gender in international workforce assignments. Research shows a negative bias still exists towards women and minorities in the workplace, which could have an adverse impact on international assignment decisions. The regulatory framework requires employers to overcome their biases, while the elimination of stereotypical attitudes also improves effectiveness.
