The impact of the Mexican social security amendments on employers
Article Abstract:
Amendments to the Mexican Social Security Institute Law will affect employers and employees. The amendments involve a change from a collective, defined benefit pension system into an individual, defined contribution pension system. A person who retires at 65 will derive more benefits from the old law, given a maximum real interest rate of 4%. The amendments, on the other hand, consider the effects of inflation to the pensions.
