The third Italian pension reform in 13 years!
Article Abstract:
The exorbitant costs relating to pensions and social security in Italy are partly due to faulty policies of successive governments. The pension laws were reformed twice in 13 years, but the results of the reforms were disappointing, the assets of Italian pension funds, serving 57 million people were just 10% of Swiss funds for 7 million people. The new reform proposals called the Maroni reforms will use the hard and soft approaches to reform the pension structures, like raising the retirement age, mandating certain stipulations as to retirement age (57 to 61) and number of years of contributions (from 35 years to 40 years).

Pension scheme funding - a new perspective
Article Abstract:
The changes in the funding strategy of benefit pension schemes are discussed. The different approaches for funding are described. It is proposed that a common approach to funding and investment strategies could lead to deficits being plugged as soon as they appear and bonds being considered the appropriate investment for pension schemes.
