Dr. John Howard, director of the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) feels that the twenty-first century would bring new challenges for health and safety professionals. The increasing globalisation of economies means that no one country can act in isolation and this would have a significant impact on the health and safety of their workers.
