Article Abstract:
Insurance for the coverage of computer viruses is discussed. Property insurance may pay for virus-related losses, and claims adjusters may consider programs and data to be covered property. Liability insurance may also cover third-party claims.

Power to policyholders; court supports insurance recoveries for loss of electronic data
Article Abstract:
The use of claims-made property insurance to provide financial protection against the loss of electronic data and against a business interruption connected with this loss is discussed. Courts are beginning to rule against insurance companies claiming that this is not physical loss or damage.

The article discusses using property insurance policies which include destruction or corruption of any computer software to cover Y2K remediation costs. That some insurers have added Y2K exclusions to their policies and how to deal with others' objections to covering such claims is also discussed.
