A popular AG is lesson in image; as lawyers suffer a decline in polls, Janet Reno and ABA leaders offer strategy
Article Abstract:
Attorney General Janet Reno was a popular speaker at the ABA 1992 Annual Meeting, calling for the legal community's support for children's causes and for a new crime-fighting approach based on early intervention rather than punishment. Reno said 'doing the right thing' has been her principle as attorney general. The annual meeting also addressed the low public opinion of lawyers demonstrated by ABA and National Law Journal polls. ABA pres R. William Ide III ascribed this problem to advertising in poor taste and bad client relations.
