Alienation; is there a legal solution to the immigration mess?
Article Abstract:
The number of illegal immigrants coming into the US is rising, and with this rise comes increasing potential for exploitation of this vulnerable group. The confusing sanctions which are supposed to keep employers from hiring illegal aliens, the difficulties of patrolling a vast border, and the lure of jobs all work together to keep illegal immigration up. Some advocates for aliens favor fighting exploitation by stricter enforcement of labor laws and by giving aliens a greater voice in the political process. The ABA's Coordinating Committee on Immigration Law has services for illegal aliens.

Deleting cybercrooks: prosecutors want tough laws to put Internet hackers, scam artists and pedophiles on permanent log off
Article Abstract:
People are committing the same types of crimes, such as sex crimes, fraud and theft, on the Internet as they are in real life while the law is trying to stop them. Most Internet crimes can be addressed under criminal laws that already exist because the types of crimes have not changed, but some crimes are unique to the Internet. One problem with policing the Internet is jurisdiction because the information comes from other states or countries where the act is question may not be illegal, such as Internet gambling based in Las Vegas, NV. Other difficulties with the Internet are discussed.

Down on the body farm
Article Abstract:
The University of Tennessee's Forensic Anthropology Research Facility is described. A fictionalized director William Bass became the hero of Patricia Cornwell's 1994 novel "The Body Farm." The facility has not escaped controversy, as a Nashville television station reported in 1995 that the bodies of several unclaimed, homeless veterans were decaying there.
