An anti-PC group sues its founder
Article Abstract:
The Center for the Study of Popular Culture on Aug 28 filed suit against the head of its legal unit, the Individual Rights Foundation, John W Howard. The IRF has gained national attention for its consistent success challenging political correctness and defending the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Howard had a falling out with the Center and its founder, David Horowitz, over what cases the IRF should be handling; Howard's insistence on focusing on the so-called Western Rebellion led him to leave, resulting in the suit.

A fisherman tries to hook the 'big bass.' (Brad Murray sues Ray W. Scott Jr., head of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society)
Article Abstract:
Members of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) have filed a class action suit against the society's founder, Ray W. Scott Jr., charging that BASS leadership has misrepresented the group as a non-profit organization. Due-paying members also allege that BASS's claims of anti-pollution litigation are exaggerated, and that the organization has been of little help to them on issues such as lake restocking. Scott responded to the charges with a press release stating that BASS has always been a for-profit enterprise.

Client conned by do-gooder; the claim is that John R. Phillips reaped millions
Article Abstract:
John R. Phillips, noted lawyer for whistleblowers, has long fought claims about the propriety of his deal with the nonprofit organization Taxpayers Against Fraud (TAF). Chester Walsh claims he agreed to team up with the organization after Phillips provided him with positive documentation about it, but says he learned only in 1997 about Phillips' questionable financial connections with it. Phillips helped found TAF and, the suit claims, had a continuing financial relationship with it.
