Another lean year for law firms? Survey finds hiring cut in response to steady or decreasing partner income
Article Abstract:
The National Assn of Legal Vendors (NALV) has released a survey showing that less than 50% of firms surveyed expected partner incomes to increase in 1993 and that almost 30% failed to meet their revenue forecasts for 1992. Most of the firms intended to cope by letting fewer associates make partner and by hiring less support staff, while some 60% intended to hire fewer associates. More than 50% planned to spend more money on computers. Some disagreed with the NALV's interpretation of the survey, saying that law partners were doing quite well in a bad economy.
