Barcode systems: personal computer applications in safety management, part 19
Article Abstract:
Many large companies have started using barcode technology to comply with some of the health and safety regulations that hold employers responsible for the quality of the equipment used at work. A handheld battery-operated computer with a laser gun and scanner is the hardware required for using barcodes. The available software offers 24 options which allows users to customize the equipment in terms of how much information is stored about each product. While there is the danger of labels being damaged, there are technological innovations to handle this problem.

Display screen equipment
Article Abstract:
Computer display screens and workstations can be the cause of a number of workplace injuries to eyes or limbs. The 1992 regulations on display screen equipment require employers to take precautionary measures to prevent injuries. Computer-based training can aid in educating workers to avoid problems caused by computer display screens. Software products are available to aid in self-assessment of health risks, identify staff who may require eye tests, and store records on workstations and their users.
