Broadening access to financial services- Competing imperatives
Article Abstract:
The highly efficient and stable financial sector serves the developed economy but is unable to meet the needs of the developing economy in the dichotomous South African economy and there is a need to broadening access to finance against the competing imperatives and difficulties while maintaining the financial stability for a sustainable economic growth. The difficulties faced while expanding the scope of finance in different sectors, effects arising from the limited access of finance to the broader population are described and solutions to resolve the problems in the various sectors are discussed.

The regulation of consumer credit information systems: A lesson from Italy?
Article Abstract:
The regulation of consumer credit information systems is considered through an analysis of the newly enacted legislation in Italy. It is argued that the intent and scope of the legislation to strengthen consumers' privacy would certainly be positive, but at the same, it fails to raise a public debate about concerns regarding the issues of enforced consent, the nature of credit reporting and the positioning of profit-seeking privately-owned organizations.

Independence and accountability of the People's Bank of China: A legal perspective
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the independence and accountability of the People's Bank of China (PBOC) is done based on the comparison between the central bank laws and the China's central bank law in mind. The functional, personal and financial independence of the PBOC is discussed and a basic legal guideline of accountability of the PBOC is created based on a general theory of democratic accountability.
