Bryan Cave faces second malpractice suit
Article Abstract:
The Los Angeles branch of Bryan, Cave, McPheeters and McRoberts has been sued twice for malpractice regarding the firm's defense of a discount store allegedly guilty of depressing the cost of upper-end hair care products. The second suit was filed by Los Angeles' Van Petten and Holen and alleged that Bryan, Cave did not advise client 99 Cents Only Stores of conflict of interest problems. These may have been present because the firm was representing other defendants with similar causes of action at the same time.

L.A. firm slapped with suits; doing deals with clients, (Mitchell, Silberberg and Knupp)
Article Abstract:
Tax Attorney Robert C. Kopple of Mitchell, Silberberg and Knupp is being sued for alleged conflicts of interest and fraud relating to real estate investments worth millions of dollars. These were investments in a citrus and almond farm in Fresno County, California. The investors allege that Kopple neglected to inform them of conflicts of interest in representing them while at the same time holding an interest in the investment and representing the company which handled packing and marketing for the farm.

Hammer's will power: Armand Hammer's ex-lovers, children and relatives all want a piece of the estate
Article Abstract:
Ex-mistresses and family members are locked in a will contest regarding the estate of the late industrialist Armand Hammer. The ex-mistresses, Bettye Murphy and Hillary Martha Gibson, claim Hammer promised to support them for the rest of their lives. Bettye Murphy had a child fathered by Hammer named Victoria Varela who is specifically disinherited in the will. Another suit charges that Hammer made his fortune using the money of his wife, Frances, and that she was defrauded out of her share.
