President George W. Bush's decision to hold the line on funding for the Legal Services Corp in FY 2001-2002, after promising to decrease funding in this area, is discussed. Supporters claim the president's decision means that legal aid to the poor is no longer a partisan issue.

Litigation by students unjustly punished by schools' 'zero-tolerance' policies is discussed. Lawyers who represent these children state that zero tolerance is out of proportion to the relalevel of school violence and that few of these children have legal assistance.
