Class action blues, New Orleans style; Louisiana perfected the class action; it may also be the first to destroy it
Article Abstract:
Many of Louisiana's actions throughout its history have tended to lead to class actions, and these have included failure to adequately enforce clean air and toxic waste rules as well as loose regulation generally. Along with being at the forefront of the class action trend, Louisiana has also been at the leading edge of the backlash. Every specialty later saw a swing of class action law in favor of the defense.
