Corporate counsel can track costs via computer: programs use powerful engines to help general counsel monitor and budget outside legal costs
Article Abstract:
Corporate counsel wishing to control and monitor expenses can use software systems that have been developed specifically for use in the in-house context. Software should be selected carefully based on a thorough investigation of the legal department's needs because of substantial cost of such systems and the expenses that will be incurred in converting both data and staff to the new system. Three software systems, Chief Legal Officer SQL, CaseTrack and Lawtrac for Windows, are assessed.
