Dale, pending before the Supreme Court and dealing with the question of whether the Boy Scout's rights of free speech and association were violated when the New Jersey high court ruled that a state civil rights law required it to reinstate James Dale, an openly gay assistant scoutmaster.

Supreme Court heading for the home stretch; lively exchanges pepper session on First Amendment
Article Abstract:
Two First-Amendment cases marked the end of the U.S. Supreme Court's calendar for the 1994-1995 term with controversy and free-ranging debate. Hurley v. Irish-American Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Group of Boston (GLIB) concerned whether the South Boston War Veterans Council violated a state bias law by banning GLIB from its St. Patrick's Day parade. Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board v Pinette was apparently more troublesome, dealing with a Ku Klux Klan-sponsored Latin cross erected in a public square.
