Trial practice is becoming more automated, and Fredric Lederer, director of Courtroom 21, the test facility where lawyers and judges see the future of legal technology, estimates over 30 fully automated federal courtrooms and 10 state courtrooms across the country.Tools include evidence display systems, real-time transcription and large-screen displays. Vendors such as LegalSpan, LiveNote Inc and PubNETics specialize in products automating legal practice.

Better trials through new technology; easels and pointers are giving way to computers, bar codes and other advances in courtroom presentation of evidence
Article Abstract:
Trial technology advances and the benefits of employing a technical expert are discussed. Bar codes enable lawyers to locate exhibits much more quickly than by manual methods and work best for long trials in which lawyers have trouble keeping up with all the exhibits. Trial presentation software will organize the data on the system.
