'Cut off their air supply;': Justice Department's case against the Microsoft monopoly
Article Abstract:
The Justice Department briefly stopped its two-decade long reluctance to enforce the US antitrust laws with its mid-1998 suit against the Microsoft Corp. As Justice had challenged no monopolies within the living memory of any current employee, it had to use an outside lawyer, David Boies, to handle the case. Boies had successfully led the defense team in the IBM monopoly case of the 1970s. The government's complaint is given.
