Still over their head in overhead: expensive quarters have taxed law firms from coast to coast
Article Abstract:
Large law firms across the nation are paying in the 90s for their excessive styles in the 80s. Signing huge leases and spending millions to renovate office space has locked many firms into lease payments much higher than the current market would provide. As a result, many have gone under. A lack of capital accumulation in law firms, a generally poor business sense amongst lawyers and their unchecked greed in the 80s are the roots of the current problems, but now that partner's themselves are being held liable for their firms' past investments, they may wise up.

Firms join the web marketing craze
Article Abstract:
Law firms maintaining a home page on the Internet's World Wide Web (WWW) report problems as well as successful development of new clients. A look at the home pages themselves reveals a full spectrum of innovation and imaginative presentation. When four WWW legal reviewers evaluated law firm sites, Jeffrey Kuester's site at http:\\www. kuesterlaw.com was chosen as easily the best, though several others scored highly. Most pages are still boring, though, in part because few firms take them seriously and are willing to risk a conservative reputation.
