Cyberbanking: remote banking using the Internet
Article Abstract:
Electronic remote banking is likely to expand in Australia, but additional legal hurdles must be overcome before offshore electronic banking gains significant acceptance. Advance Bank is currently the only Australian bank offering its customers account access through the Internet. Banks wishing to attract remote customers will have to address security concerns. Offshore banks must address more fundamental concerns such as creditworthiness. Transnational banking raises contract, conflict of laws, regulatory and financial reporting questions.
