Standing up for the powerless; a new legal agenda for children and families
Article Abstract:
The ABA will form a working group to document the legal services needed by America's families and children. Among the items covered will be family support, child welfare, juvenile justice and court services for families and children. Already existing ABA entities such as the Family Law Section and the Commission on Homelessness and Poverty will work in conjunction with this new group.

Addressing legal needs of the elderly; ABA, state and local bars focus on elder law
Article Abstract:
The ABA Commission on Legal Problems for the Elderly is trying to help those who will make up 22% of the US population by early in the 21st century. The ABA advocates the use of alternative dispute resolution for many of older people's legal problems, is trying to streamline dealings with the Social Security system and to increase awareness of tools such as living wills.
