Decision on personnel at Pitt prompt staff and student protest
Article Abstract:
Faculty and students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law are protesting two administration decisions. One was the provost's decision to deny tenure to Professor S. Candice Hoke after the full faculty voted to grant her tenure. The second was to turn down the application of Professor Michael A. Olivas for the deanship. Olivas, a University of Houston Law Center professor, is well known for urging that law schools hire more Hispanics for their faculties.

Hastings student is suspended for harassment, test violations
Article Abstract:
Disabled Hastings College of Law student Eddie Kenyon has been suspended for at least half a year for alleged cheating on exams and sexual harassment of administrators and other students. Kenyon has filed a civil rights suit against the school alleging the suspension to have been a retaliation for complaints against the school he had made to the Department of Education. The complaints were for failure to make reasonable accommodations for his disability.

Florida honor student accused in plot to kill husband, secretary
Article Abstract:
Joann Plachy, an honors student at Florida State University College of Law, has been charged with hiring a hit man to kill a secretary at the school and her own husband. Plachy allegedly targeted the secretary to keep information that she cheated on exams from becoming known. It is not known why the A-student wanted her husband killed. A school spokesperson described Plachy as 'very matter-of-fact about business.'
