Denver firm appeals judgment; Holland & Hart suit
Article Abstract:
The issue in The Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation v Holland and Hart is the alleged negligence of law firm partner Bruce T. Buell in obtaining oil revenue for his relative Temple Buell. The 1980 agreement dealt with the sale of shares in the former King County Development Co, of which Temple Buell's companies held some 16%, to John G. Rocovich, and specified that the Buell companies would have half a year in which to purchase roughly one-third of the mineral rights from Rocovich. Plaintiffs are alleging that the agreement violates the rule against perpetuities.
