Equal justice; New Hampshire case highlights ongoing problems of gender bias in the courts
Article Abstract:
The problem of the connections of an ex-spouse who was a judge or powerful attorney leading to unfair treatment of divorced women is discussed, as is the problem of bias among jurors.The scandal on the New Hampshire Supreme Court and the handling of former Justice W Stephen Thayer's divorce case is provided as an example.

The old-fashioned Southern courtesy with which law firms in Charleston, SC practice is described. New lawyers are helped with advice and referrals when starting out, and lawyers prefer the independence of small-firm practice.
