Article Abstract:
Attorney Joel Singer received leave from Sidley and Austin to work as legal adviser on the Oslo II Israeli-Palestinian Peace Accord. Singer had previously been chief legal analyst to the Israel Defense Forces and now that he has returned to Sidley and Austin plans to expand his international law practice to business transactions in the Middle East. Singer feels that further economic progress in the area will depend on confidence about security matters.

When lawyers go to bat: pro bono effort lands Chicago White Sox Nellie Fox in baseball's Hall of Fame
Article Abstract:
The pro bono efforts of a group of Chicago attorneys resulted in the induction of the Chicago White Sox's Nellie Fox, a 1950's star infielder, to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1997. The lawyers had formed the Nellie Fox Society in 1988 to push for his election. Their work reflects the positive side of the legal profession.
