Expanding access to PEP: ethical and legal issues
Article Abstract:
The legal and ethical issues involved in postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) for possible non-occupational exposure to HIV are discussed focusing on issues relating to access, funding, confidentiality, informed choice and liability for PEP. PEP has been available only to persons who have had occupational exposure to the virus, particularly in the practice of healthcare. The ethical and legal debates on the issue is based on the equal rights of persons to avail of preventive treatment.

Expanding access to early HIV care: new challenges for federal health policy
Article Abstract:
Issues related to federal funding for HIV care are examined, focusing on how research that has improved the standard of care and developed more complex antiretroviral therapy has affected the programs. Topics include Medicaid and the AIDS Drug Assistance Program, and recommendations to expand Medicaid as a way to increase access to programs.

Examining medical coverage for Medicare beneficiaries with HIV/AIDS
Article Abstract:
Medicare beneficiaries with HIV and/or AIDS are not fully covered for the expenses treatment requires. The Ryan White funds combined with private insurance provisions may be the best way for HIV/AIDS-infected Medicare beneficiaries to supplement their coverage.
