Four of this, four of that
Article Abstract:
Even honest insurance agents may make poor decisions because of rationalizing behavior that they know is not ethical. Therefore, four basic guidelines can protect agents from making ethical mistakes. They are: avoid actual conflicts of interest, maintain confidentiality, exercise due care and act in good faith. The rationalizations agents need to avoid are: putting the agent's best interest over the clients, saying the activity is not really wrong, expecting support from superiors and believing no one will find out.

Article Abstract:
The American Society of CLU & ChFC Code of Ethics applies to a membership which is composed of a diverse group of insurance professionals. The code requires that clients' best interests be served. High ethical standards should apply regardless of client status. Clients most often are consumers, but may be insurance companies, banks, or other agents or brokers.
