'Friends of Bill' shell out: lawyers contribute to Clinton legal fund for Paula Jones, Whitewater probes
Article Abstract:
Pres Bill Clinton's legal defense fund has received $608,080 in contributions since its establishment six months ago. The Presidential Legal Expense Trust was established to help Clinton pay his legal expenses in the Whitewater and Paula Jones matters. The average contribution to the fund has been $104 dollars, with a maximum of $1,000 allowed. The most common reason for donating cited has been a belief that the two attacks against the president are politically motivated and an attempt to hobble Clinton.

If indicted, Clinton has weak defenses
Article Abstract:
Pres Bill Clinton has few defenses if indicted for perjury after he leaves office, and many think as a result that he may seek Congress's protection to avoid being imprisoned. Among the defenses for perjury are materiality, that the lie must be a literal falsehood, as well as the two-witness rule. Finding jurors lacking bias and ignorant of evidence which would not be admitted in court, but has been posted on the World Wide Web, would present a problem in any trial of Clinton.

Paula Jones appeal rides on 'how bad is bad.'?
Article Abstract:
The threshold of severity a single act of sexual harassment must cross to get a case before a jury is the issue in the Paula Jones' appeal of her sexual harassment suit against Pres Bill Clinton. Jones appealed her case to the US Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit after its dismissal at the trial level. The oral arguments did not deal with constitutional issues but merely with the threshold of severity question.
