Hair spray and life insurance: capitalizing on the baby boom's diversity
Article Abstract:
The baby boom generation's diversity must be recognized by the insurance and financial services industries before products can be accurately designed for these customers. The media treats baby boomers as a cohesive group but this interpretation is short sighted because baby boomers span 18 years in age differences, have varied family structure and background and diverse consumer expenditures. Financial planners must consider all these factors as well as the influence of older baby boomers on the economic situation for younger baby boomers through social security, health care and other programs.

Long-term care insurance: national trends in personal care
Article Abstract:
Older people benefit from long-term care insurance when it includes personal care insurance. Many older people can continue to live at home if they receive personal care, such as assistance with bathing. Many older people are reluctant to purchase long-term care insurance because they have a fear of nursing homes. Long-term care insurance provides assistance for older people in their own homes and allows them to remain independent.
