The importance of demonstrative evidence as an explanatory tool which can increase retention is discussed. Such evidence is most effective when presenting visually the key themes of the argument. The creation of the identity template and the importance of the graphics consultant are also discussed.

The increase in the numbers and influence of trial consultants is discussed. Their training in communication arts and in the social sciences can make them invaluable at trials. Numbers have increased from 0 to near 500 since the origin of the specialty in the 1970s.
