In memoriam: Warren E. Burger
Article Abstract:
Warren Burger, Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court from 1969 to 1986, is remembered by law clerks and colleagues as a justice committed to the Constitution and the United States. He worked tirelessly to fulfill his ideals of American justice, despite the fact that he presided over some of the most troubling times in US history. Though he indeed looked like a chief justice, he always acted like he was a trustee of the office.
