Job share lets moms litigate

Cherry Hill, NJ firm Flaster Greenberg Wallenstein Roderick Spirgel Zuckerman Skinner and Kirchner has developed a job-sharing arrangement for women attorneys wanting time for their families and children. Julie A Willliamson acted as Elizabeth J. Hampton's substitute when the latter was on maternity leave and Hampton suggested a job-sharing arrangement between the two of them. The firm's managers agreed to try and all seem happy with the deal. Hampton and Williamson share an office and secretary, with each paid on a pro-rata basis for the hours she gives to the job.

The bicoastal entertainment law firm of Loeb and Loeb decided that being co-chaired by two senior partners would provide for faster, more efficient decisionmaking than the committee model. John T Frankenheimer in Los Angeles and David H Carlin in New York are the two-person management team and provide for consistent, real-time decision-making. The co-chairmen have also shown that they can provide quicker solutions to individual attorney needs than committees.

A pay plan curbs partner spats
Article Abstract:
The Los Angeles law firm of Reish and Luftman minimizes salary disputes among lawyers with a very structured partner compensation scheme made before the beginning of each fiscal year. The pay formula awards points for the amount each partner has collected on time billed, for client development, and for the hourly total of the staff supervised. The firm holds monthly collection meetings, which has raised its collection rate from 90 to 96%.
