Jot it down
Article Abstract:
Evergreen International Technologies' $39.95 Jot-It! 2.1 electronic sticky-notes program is a helpful tool for getting organized. The software works with any Windows 3.x or Windows 95 application, but it is especially designed for use with the Web. The software allows users to place notes by dragging them from the Jot-It window and dropping them in the desired spot. Users may modify the notes' color, font and name, and the program can even store sound data. Jot-It is particularly helpful for use on the Web, since it can be used to post warnings about a link to avoid or to store hints about a particular site. The notes reappear whenever users return to the spot where the notes were posted, and users can link notes and actions, so that a note appears whenever users move a mouse or a cursor. One of the product's best features is the option to connect notes to applications that are not currently displaying.

End-user programming for Windows
Article Abstract:
Wilson WindowWare's $495 WinBatch Compiler is essential for production of WinBatch programming. WinBatch applications facilitate the manipulation and automation of all Windows environments. WinBatch's programming language, the Windows Interface Language (WIL), is both easy to learn and powerful. Programmers or users with macro experience will find the commands and their structure familiar. WinBatch also markets an interpreter version in addition to the compiler addition. The $100 interpreter is available on several online systems as a shareware product, but the compiler remains key to WinBatch scripts. WinBatch scripts provide WBT extensions to traditional ASCII text files and can be created in all text editors such as Notepad. WinBatch features utility programs such as Dialog Editor to assist WinBatch program development. The WinBatch Compiler transforms WinBatch scripts into executable applications.

Software for creating your Web page
Article Abstract:
Several applications are available that allow users to create World Wide Web documents using a standard word processor and with no knowledge of HTML. The free Microsoft Internet Assistant turns Word for Windows 6.0 into a Web browser as well as an HTML editor. The editor does not support Netscape extensions, but they can be manually added. The browser is slow and unreliable. Quarterdeck Office Systems' $49 WebAuthor also works with Word for Windows 6.0. It can be used to verify proper HTML 2.0 compliance. Netscape extensions can be added as custom tags. Novell's Internet Publisher works with WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows, and comes with Netscape's Navigator browser and the Envoy viewer. It supports some Netscape extensions and some HTML 3.0.
