Judge for the situation: Judge Jack Weinstein, creator of temporary administrative agencies
Article Abstract:
Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the US Eastern District Court of New York is unique in his approach to case management and solutions to multijurisdictional disputes in his creation of temporary administrative agencies. Judge Weinstein has branded the judicial process with his sense of inclusive justice in cases such as those involving DES and Agent Orange. His unique ability to manage claims processing, public hearings, and other administrative-like tasks for the term of particular cases could not likely be duplicated by others on the bench.

The courtroom as classroom: independence, imagination and ideology in the work of Jack Weinstein
Article Abstract:
The 30 year judicial career of Judge Jack B. Weinstein of the US Eastern District of New York has been influenced by his academic career and by his ideology. His ethical individualism is not antithetical to his judicial independence. His independence arises from his academic career which has necessarily required intellectual independence. His intellect and disregard for institutional accountability are properly unique, because the judiciary would be in political danger if more such unusual characters filled its benches.
