Juvenile and criminal justice systems' responses to youth violence
Article Abstract:
The US justice system's current trend to try juvenile offenders in adult criminal courts is discussed. The article argues that the justice system disregards the possible rehabilitation of youths, and inadvertently fosters managerial difficulties for adult and juvenile correctional facilities.

Research suggests juvenile offenders forced to enter the adult criminal justice system have greater likelihood for recidivism and exposure to many negative experiences. There is no evidence transfer of juveniles to the adult system achieves either general or specific deterrence.

Adult correctional treatment
Article Abstract:
Issues regarding those adult correctional interventions effective at reducing recidivism are discussed. Meta-analyses shows that juvenile interventions work better than those designed for adults, and behavioral-cognitive treatments are the most effective.
