Knocking down walls: ABA leaders plan to lobby at U.N. women's conference despite resistance
Article Abstract:
ABA President-elect Roberta Cooper Ramo plans to led a 15-member delegation to the UN Fourth World Conference on Women, scheduled for early Sep 1995 in Beijing, China. The delegation will lobby on three issues: legal literacy, international human rights and domestic violence, if the conference takes place. The conference may be moved to Australia or cancelled because the Chinese government has become concerned about women advocates and so has moved the nongovernmental organizations 50 miles from the UN conference.
