Defining 'egregious.' (government attorney behavior warranting disbarment)
Article Abstract:
Government attorney Florence Huffman's misconduct case indicates the extent some state bar associations are willing to overlook or punish lightly criminal behavior. As a Fayette County, KY, county attorney, Huffman and others accepted raises solely to return their cash value to her in order to further her political ambitions. When the scheme came to light, the Kentucky Bar Assn board of directors found she had acted illegally, committed fraud, and showed moral turpitude, but only suspended her for four years.

Sanctions not enough
Article Abstract:
Edward Tante's egregious misconduct in entering into sexual relations with an emotionally impaired client deserved more than the 18-month suspension that the Georgia Supreme Court imposed. His actions were worse than the knowing theft of client funds, which usually draws a stiffer sanction, and in effect amounted to rape, as the court found the client incapable of giving her consent.
