Lawyering beyond the year 2000: digit-sensitive issues aren't new
Article Abstract:
The year-2000 problem is causing people to have attacks of nerves at many number-related milestones, but the former may be the only one deserving of real concern. None of the date-related technological problems being talked about are as serious as the year-2000 issue, according to Mark Grossman, a frequent writer on technology. An example is the Dow 10,000 problem, the supposed inability of computers to handle a Dow Jones Industrial Average above four digits. Lawyers have to balance getting clients to focus on the year-2000 issue with placating fears in other contexts.
