Learning disabilities and employment: a comprehensive overview and proposal for uniformity
Article Abstract:
Learning disabled individuals may be protected against employment discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but the difficulty in determining their disability status remains at issue under existing case law and arbitration decisions. Initially, the learning disabled were aided by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, but may have stronger protections available under ADA. A uniform determination system for disabilities such as Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is recommended to aid enforcement of ADA guidelines.

AIDS and the ADA: maneuvering through a legal minefield
Article Abstract:
Employers considering hiring an AIDS patient must be careful not to run afoul of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), whose aim is to prevent employment discrimination against handicapped individuals. The ADA requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations facilitating the job performance of a handicapped person. Questions on job applications should be general, aimed mainly at figuring out which accommodations an employer would need to provide. Proper ADA procedures are discussed with the help of a hypothetical case.
