The trend for law firms to update marketing strategies by employing marketing directors who are often corporate marketing pros is discussed. Some of the marketing skills for firms unwilling to hire a full-time director are also discussed.

The slumping economy is working to the benefit of law firms that are looking to hire new associates. They have an unusual number of well-qualified candidates to choose from. Many do not have to focus on recruiting to the same degree they once did.
