Johnnie Cochran, Jr has returned to his roots in civil rights litigation after his high-profile victory for O.J. Simpson. Cochran wants to be seen as a young Thurgood Marshall now, not as a hired gun for celebrities. In this quest, Cochran receives requests for help from lawyers nationwide, allowing him to choose cases which advance his civil rights practice and his own political agenda.

Been there... L.A. celebrity divorce firm used partners' divorces in its media pitch - for a while

The California celebrity divorce firm of Wasser, Rosenson and Carter is profiled, which used the unusual marketing technique of portraying the firm as one which could be more sensitive to a client's emotional needs because the partners had all been divorced themselves. Many observiers questioned this packaging of a law firm for media use and also mentioned potential ethical problems.
