Article Abstract:
Tracey Baetzel, the information services director for Detroit's Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, has a background in ethnomusicology but switched to computer programming because of a lack of employment opportunities in her first field. Baetzel also holds a graduate degree in business and before Honigman hired her held positions at a software company and a university. Baetzel hopes for a concentration on quality control and integration although she anticipates further progress with efficiency due to the Internet and intranet services.

Electronic lawyering on the rise; the next five years will see improvements in electronic filings, communications and private intranets at lawyers' command
Article Abstract:
Interviews with computer-literature lawyers about the future of legal automation indicate a honing of legal tools and the forming of technology companies by some lawyers. Intranets may prove an answer to the work product problem, or, how to find and use again work produced in response to a client's question. The electronic transmission of documents may also transform court proceedings, although widespread use of such transmission would necessitate updating the postmark rule.
