Did they take a leaf from Scott Turow?
Article Abstract:
Eric Jackson is a Brooklyn resident who spent 10 years in jail in the noted arson murder case at a Waldbaum's supermarket in Brooklyn. He was freed from prison when lawyers discovered the district attorney had suppressed evidence that the fire was accidental. Since he left prison, he has been rearrested so many times that the judge who set him free fears he is being harassed by prosecutors since they will not have to reopen the arson murder case if he is in jail on another charge.

New scrutiny for DNA testing; confusion on statistics?
Article Abstract:
The National Academy of Sciences will, as requested by the FBI, re-study the territory covered in its 1992 report alleging flawed methods of DNA testing. The 1992 report praised DNA tests in general but urged that courts stop allowing into evidence the high odds disfavoring a random match until more data is available. The FBI complains the 1992 report created confusion as to the admissibility of DNA test results.
