On target; McWilliams repeats plea for gun control after courthouse shooting
Article Abstract:
J. Michael McWilliams, ending his term as ABA president with the 1993 annual meeting, used the occasion to highlight problems in society and the judicial system which have been inadequately addressed. These include the need for gun control due to increasing violence in society, trying harder to meet children's legal needs and the inadequate funding of the judicial system. Children's needs were highlighted in a report by the Working Group on the Unmet Legal Needs of Children and Their Families, while the Special Committee on Funding the Justice System reported on courts' financial problems.
