P.C. gags fair Harvard
Article Abstract:
Harvard Law School's passage of a rule limiting free speech runs counter to the institution's traditions and signals to public universities that they can legally follow suit. The code, designed to make women more comfortable by barring offensive sexual speech, comes at a time of increased criticism of speech codes and after several court rulings against such codes in public universities. However, changes in the school's administration and exhaustion on the part of pro-free speech figures made it possible.

Cyber speech at risk
Article Abstract:
First Amendment rights are under strong attack in the broadcast and electronic communications media, but the US Supreme Court may yet resolve the problem. The Communications Decency Act provisions of the 1996 Telecommunications Reform Act establish the govt as the nation's parent and sacrifices adults' First Amendment rights in the interest of making the Internet intellectually safe for children. The Court should recognize that this responsiblity and authority resides with a child's parents.

Medium is message; courts say Congress goofed in CDA focus on smut, not the Internet
Article Abstract:
Conservative groups managed to gain the upper hand during the drafting of the Communications Decency Act but two federal courts have found some of its provisions unconstitutional. Opponents to the bill came from the computer industry and from civil liberties groups. The law makes it a crime punishable by fines of up to $100,000 and two years of imprisonment to use the Internet to send pornography to minors.
