Picture of competency; illustrated tests assess child's ability to tell the truth in testimony

Article Abstract:

A picture test to use in competency examinations of child witnesses is discussed. Law professor Thomas D Lyon and psychologist Karen J Saywitz, who developed the picture test, compared it to traditional methods and showed that using the picture test, over half of 5-year-olds understood the distinction between lying and telling the truth.
