Address finesse
Article Abstract:
A macro for inserting names and addresses in WordPerfect 8.0 is described. The name and address is initially entered in the Corel Address Book then transferred to the macro. This enables the name and address to be entered into a document whenever needed without the need for retyping. The practice is efficient and helps to eliminate typos. To create the macro, create a blank WordPerfect 8.0 document and select Tools, Macro, Macro Toolbar, then type in the macro code. Select the Options button on the Macro Toolbar and choose Save as Macro.

A guide for word converts
Article Abstract:
West Publishing's The Busy Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Word dual support manuals feature two books that provide simple-to-follow, comprehensive explanations for executing standard word processing tasks. The volumes cost $26 each and are written for both inexperienced and moderately knowledgeable users. Volume I features several chapters dedicated to outlining the basic functions of Windows 95 that are followed by Word capabilities for Windows 95. Volume II also discusses Windows 95 and advances to various Word functions for creating legal documents such as text searching, using templates, file management, styles, automatic paragraph numbering and autoformatting. While inexperienced and methodical users will find Volume I useful, experienced Windows users may find it elementary. Both books are written explicitly for busy attorneys and lack unnecessary detail. Although both volumes include disks with sample documents, neither disk is particularly helpful.

QuickCorrect formatting aberrations
Article Abstract:
Tips for using Corel's WordPerfect 6.1, 7.0 and 8.0 word processing software feature, QuickCorrect, are presented. QuickCorrect automatically corrects common typing mistakes and expands simple abbreviations. QuickCorrect's excellent capabilities can also facilitate frustration. For example, using capital I to delete replace words list entries replaces all (i) letters in documents with (I). To eliminate this menacing problem, users are instructed to highlight the (i) entry and select Delete Entry. Also, Inserting a [Writing Tools:Disabled] code into documents will prevent automatic corrections and will disable the QuickCorrect feature. QuickCorrect's word replacement feature can be turned off by disengaging the Replace words as you type option. This tedious process of disabling Writing Tools, however, is discouraged.
