RTC runs into historic roadblock on seizure; preservationists use agency interest to force halt of property sale
Article Abstract:
Philadelphians interested in the preservation of historic buildings convinced the Resolution Trust Corp (RTC) of its duties under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, which mandates that federal agencies consider the effect of their actions on historic buildings. The RTC held the mortgage to one such building, Lynnewood Hall in Philadelphia after they seized assets of the bankrupt Bell Savings and Loan. The National Trust for Historic Preservation agreed with the RTC to buy the Lynnewood Hall mortgage in order to preserve the building.

Did undercover probe go under covers? An indicted Philly lawyer says an IRS agent seduced her into a money-laundering scheme
Article Abstract:
US v. Nolan-Cooper pertains to an allegation by a sole practitioner that the use by undercover IRS agents of romance and sex to get her to admit to money laundering constitutes government conduct so outrageous that charges against her and co-defendants should be dismissed. Although a federal court has yet to dismiss a criminal indictment for this reason, both the US Supreme Court and several appeals courts have considered the issue.
