Reducing a company's risk over domain name disputes
Article Abstract:
Many domain name disputes arise because Network Solutions Inc. assigns a domain name that incorporates someone else's trademark, and when the trademark owner learns of this domain name, claims that the company with the Internet site is guilty of trademark infringment. Strategies for reducing the risk of such disputes include a comprehensive search, often using a private search firm, to determine if similar domain names or trademarks exist, the buy-out or hypertext link option, using metatags, or resorting to litigation.
